Vol. 110 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Listowel Fever Hospital.

asked the Minister for Health if it is the intention to convert the fever hospital at Listowel into an emergency hospital for tuberculosis patients; whether he is aware that the old district hospital building is still in a good state of repair and could easily be utilised for the purposes of a temporary sanatorium, and would actually accommodate more than twice as many patients as the fever hospital.

The answer to the first part of the question is "yes".

I am informed that the old district hospital is not in a good state of repair and that extensive improvements would be necessary before it could be utilised as a sanatorium. Use will, however, be made of the old district hospital to house the domestic staff required for the tuberculosis hospital.
