Vol. 110 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drogheda Traffic Rules.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is aware that grave inconvenience is being caused to the traders of Drogheda by the delay in putting into force the Order regulating the traffic and the parking spaces in that town; whether he is aware that the local Garda authorities have already submitted a set of rules to the corporation for approval, which only require the sanction of the Commissioner and whether that sanction will be forthcoming before the summer.

I understand that the local Garda officers discussed with the Drogheda Corporation the question of special traffic by-laws for Drogheda, and that proposals for by-laws were submitted to the Commissioner; but after further consultations between a headquarters officer, the local Garda officers and the corporation, the Commissioner came to the conclusion that the proposed by-laws would not achieve their object.
