Vol. 110 No. 7

Written Answers. - Kerry Drainage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed to start the national drainage scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act and, in particular, when it is proposed to start drainage operations on the rivers Brick and Cashen, Feale, Gale and Maine, in the County of Kerry.

Operations on the Brosna catchment drainage scheme, the first to be prepared pursuant to the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, will start within the next few weeks. The Brick, Cashen, Feale and Gale rivers were included in the survey of the River Feale catchment area, referred to in my reply to Deputy Spring's question. I am not in a position to say when actual drainage operations can be commenced in this or the River Maine area.
