Vol. 110 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Telephone Service.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that Messrs. Moran Brothers, Watergate Street, Navan, were refused a telephone service, and if he can state when this service is likely to be provided.

Messrs. Moran Brothers, Watergate Street, An Uaimh, first applied for telephone service on 10th April, 1947, and were refused. There are now 21 waiting applicants for service at An Uaimh Exchange, 12 of whom applied before Messrs. Moran Brothers. The Department has commenced work on a scheme for the clearance of all waiting applications for telephone service which were made prior to 1st January, 1948, and is doing so on the basis of clearing all the applications in a particular exchange before moving on to another area. It is hoped to provide service for waiting applicants in An Uaimh within three to six months.
