Vol. 110 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Valuation of Bogland.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that because of the amount of turf cut on his land during the years 1945, 1946 and 1947, Patrick Donnellon, Culkeen, Cloonfad, County Roscommon, had his land valuation raised from £4 5s. 0d. to almost £17 and if he will state whether or not this valuation will now be reduced to its former figure.

A new valuation of £18 was fixed on 1st March, 1947, on the turbary right attaching to 40 acres 0 roods 17 perches of land in the townland of Culkeen, E.D. Kiltullagh, County Roscommon, occupied by Patrick Donnellon. In accordance with the Valuation Acts it was open to Mr. Donnellon to appeal against the new valuation between 1st and 28th March, 1947, but he did not do so. By writing to the county secretary before 15th June next, Mr. Donnellon can have the valuation revised for the rating year 1949-50, but in the meantime the present valuation of £18 must stand for the rating years 1947-48 and 1948-49.
