Vol. 110 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Drainage.

asked the Minister for Finance whether any steps are being taken to start arterial drainage in North Kerry, and thereby relieve the distress and loss suffered by the people of the county from flooding and also give much needed employment.

Preparations have been proceeding for some time towards the commencement of arterial drainage works in North Kerry. A survey of the Feale catchment has been completed and the design of a scheme is in hands. Surveys of the Lee (Tralee) and Akeragh Lough-Banna catchments are in progress. I am not in a position to say when actual drainage operations can be commenced in any of them.

Is the Brick and Cashen area included in this catchment?

The Brick and Cashen scheme is in the Feale catchment area, which has been surveyed.
