Vol. 110 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Memorial Park: Disposal of Furniture.

asked the Minister for Finance (1) if, when the Bourn-Vincent Memorial Park, now known as the National Park, was presented to the nation, an inventory was made of all the furniture and other household utensils in Muckross House; (2) whether any of the suites of furniture have since been removed, and (3) if so, by what authority and whether they are still the property of the nation.

(1) In accordance with the provisions of the Bourn-Vincent Memorial Park Act, 1932, an inventory was prepared of the furnishings, etc., taken over by the State with the property.

(2) Some miscellaneous items of furniture were subsequently resold to Mr. Arthur Rose Vincent, the donor of the property. Various other items were recently transferred to Arus an Uachtaráin as part of the scheme for improvement and furnishing of the premises.

(3) Pursuant to Section 21 of the Bourn-Vincent Memorial Park Act, 1932, these transactions were carried out on the authority of the Minister for Finance. The articles resold to Mr. Arthur Rose Vincent are no longer the property of the State. The articles transferred to Arus an Uachtaráin still remain the property of the State.
