Vol. 110 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Enniscorthy Garda Barracks.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is aware of the unhealthy and unsuitable nature of the existing Garda Síochána barracks at Enniscorthy inasmuch as it is affected by floods in bad weather and is damp for many months of the year; and whether in the circumstances he will arrange to have a new barracks provided for this centre.

I am informed that the Garda Síochána barracks at Enniscorthy are unsatisfactory. The building becomes damp in wet weather, but it is incorrect to say that it is affected by floods in bad weather. In fact it was only flooded once since 1922, and the flooding occurred in March of last year, after a long period of wet and snowy weather.

Enniscorthy has been listed for the erection of a new station, but there are many other stations in a much worse condition and these must get priority in any building scheme.
