Vol. 110 No. 10

Written Answers to Questions. - Survey of Kildare Dispensary Districts.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state when he expects to be in a position to give to the Kildare County Council the result of the pilot survey, and if he is aware that the delay in arranging dispensary districts is causing very serious inconvenience and hardship to the people of the county owing to the absence of resident dispensary doctors inasmuch as the council cannot build dispensary residences until the districts are determined.

The survey of dispensary districts in the county has been completed and the recommendations made therein will be forwarded to the local authority as soon as they have been examined and considered in the Department. I understand that, with the exception of Carbury, Fontstown, Ballymore-Eustace, Johnstown, Kilcullen and Moone districts, the dispensary districts in the county have resident medical officers. I have received no representations from any of the districts named as to hardships caused by reason of the fact that the medical officer resides outside the district. I am prepared to consider a proposal by the local authority for the erection of a dispensary residence in any area which, the results of the survey indicate, will likely remain unaltered.

The Dáil adjourned at 10.30 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, 12th May.
