Vol. 110 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Basic Petrol Allowance.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in view of the large quantity of petrol which will not now be required for haulage of turf and wood fuel, he will consider increasing the basic petrol allowance for private and commercial motor vehicles.

It is not possible at present to estimate what quantity of petrol will be saved by the anticipated reduction in the requirements for turf and wood fuel haulage this year. Nor is the petrol supply position for the rest of the year clear. Accordingly, I am not in a position to consider the question of increasing basic allowances for private and commercial motor vehicles.
