Vol. 110 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Utilisation of Turf.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has issued instructions to all local authorities in scheduled turf areas to use turf instead of coal for their fuel requirements; and, if not, whether he intends doing so in the near future.

The attention of local authorities in the scheduled turf areas has already been called by circular letter to the desirability of their meeting the fuel requirements of their road plant, and also for the heating of their offices, so far as may be practicable by using turf.

Is the Minister aware that in some counties, like County Limerick, it would appear that contracts for turf have been cancelled?

Mr. Murphy

I have no information on that point, and would be glad to have fuller information on it.
