Vol. 110 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Grants.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate the reasons for the delay in dealing with applications for grants under the Housing Acts for new houses and reconstruction work; further, if he is aware that many people are anxiously awaiting the necessary approval in order to proceed with the work during the fine weather; and, if so, whether he will give an assurance that no further delays will take place.

Mr. Murphy

Following the passing of the Housing (Amendment) Act, 1948, in January last, regulations, including forms and memoranda in connection with the administration of the Act, had to be prepared and printed and appointed officers nominated for all urban areas. These preliminaries have now been completed and the consideration of applications for grants is proceeding with the greatest possible speed.
