Vol. 110 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authorities Employees' Pensions.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will now state on what date it is proposed to bring into operation the pension scheme for employees of local authorities, as many of these workers who are advanced in age are awaiting this announcement.

Mr. Murphy

Part II of the Local Government (Superannuation) Act, 1948, which deals with officers, was brought into operation by an Order made on the 1st April.

A local authority may, by resolution, decide to adopt Part III of the Act, which deals with superannuation schemes for servants, as on and from a date not earlier than one month after the date of the resolution.
