Vol. 110 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sewerage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government why the sanction of his Department is not forthcoming for the extension of the sewerage and water scheme in Abbeyfeale town, submitted a considerable time ago by the Limerick County Council.

Mr. Murphy

The local authority has been notified that there is no objection to the carrying out of the Abbeyfeale sewerage improvement scheme in accordance with the amended documents which were submitted to my Department on the 8th March.

Plans for proposed water supply extensions in the town have been approved, but the invitation of tenders for the work was deferred with a view to undertaking both schemes together.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state when work is likely to begin on the sewerage scheme in Cappawhite, County Tipperary.

Mr. Murphy

The preparation of this scheme is still in its preliminary stages. I understand that the necessary survey work in connection with the scheme is at present being undertaken.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state when work is likely to begin on the water supply scheme and sewerage scheme in Urlingford, County Kilkenny.

Mr. Murphy

A consulting engineer has been appointed to prepare a scheme for a water supply for Urlingford and Johnstown, but no details of the scheme have yet been submitted to my Department. A sewerage scheme could not be undertaken until an adequate piped water supply has first been installed.

I regret I am not in a position to state when work on this scheme will begin.
