Vol. 110 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Purchase of Lea House, Ballsbridge.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) from whom Lea House, Ballsbridge, Dublin, was purchased by the Irish Tourist Board; (b) the purchase price; (c) whether such purchase was by auction or by private treaty; (d) whether any auctioneer's commission was paid by the board, and, if so, to whom it was paid; and (e) whether a solicitor other than the qualified solicitor employed whole-time by the board was retained to act for the board in connection with such purchase, and, if so, the name of such solicitor.

Lea House, Ballsbridge, was purchased by the Irish Tourist Board from Mrs. Joyce of that address, through Messrs. Hamilton and Hamilton, auctioneers, Dawson Street, Dublin. The purchase price paid was £9,000. The purchase was by private treaty immediately following an abortive auction. The normal fee covering the purchase of property in accordance with the Institute of Auctioneers' scale was paid to Messrs. Hamilton and Hamilton, and Mr. J.G. Allen, solicitor, Clare Street, Dublin, acted for the Irish Tourist Board in connection with the purchase of the property.
