asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the date on which the accounts of Bord na Móna for the year ending 31st March, 1947, were presented to his Department, and what explanation was offered for the delay in furnishing such accounts and the report accompanying them.

The report and accounts of Bord na Móna for the period to 31st March, 1947, were finally received in my Department on 13th January, 1948. As they were the first report and accounts since the bord's establishment under the Turf Development Act, 1946, there was some unavoidable delay in agreeing the form of the accounts which should be approved by the Minister for Industry and Commerce under that Act after consultation with the Minister for Finance.
It is anticipated that the report and accounts for the current and subsequent years will be submitted at a much earlier date.
