Vol. 110 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dun Laoghaire Boat Train Service.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that 2,000 passengers arrived by boat at Dun Laoghaire on Good Friday and that Córas Iompair Éireann made no arrangements to have them taken by rail to their homes; and, if so, whether he will take steps to ensure that proper arrangements are made by Córas Iompair Éireann in future to transport to their homes the large numbers of Irish citizens abroad who avail of the holiday periods to visit their relatives in Ireland.

I have made inquiries from Córas Iompair Éireann in this matter. They inform me that passenger trains did not run on Good Friday but that ordinary weekday provincial omnibus services were operated. These were sufficient to cater for all traffic and no intending passengers were left behind.
