Vol. 110 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Issue of Building Licences.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will revert to the former practice whereby applicants for building licences were required to obtain the consent of the local authority only in those cases where there was a town-planning scheme involved.

I think it proper that before any building operation is authorised under the Control of Building Order, the local authority concerned should be made aware of the general nature of the work in respect of which the licence is sought, and that this should be done whether or not the local authority has adopted a town planning scheme.

I do not, therefore, propose to alter the present practice.
