Vol. 111 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Closing of Ballyboden Post Office:

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state whether it is proposed to close the post office at Ballyboden on 10th June next; whether he is aware that this action would inconvenience seriously the inhabitants of Ballyboden and particularly old age pensioners; and, if so, whether he will give an undertaking that the closing of this post office will not take place.

A prospective vacancy at Ballyboden has been advertised on two occasions, but no candidates are forthcoming. There is, therefore, no alternative to closing the office. The amount of business transacted in the Ballyboden office is, however, small and the distance to the neighbouring post offices not very considerable, so that the inconvenience resulting from the closing of the office is not likely to be great.
