Vol. 111 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford Telephone Call Box.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state whether an application was received in his Department from the Waterford County Council for the installation of a telephone call box at Aglish Post Office, County Waterford; and, if so, whether he will arrange to have it installed as soon as possible, in view of the fact that it is urgently required in the district.

An application has been received from the Waterford County Council for the installation of a public telephone at Aglish Post Office.

A public telephone call office will be installed there as part of the Department's scheme to provide a public telephone at every post office which has not this facility. Owing, however, to heavy arrears of other construction work—particularly the clearance of waiting applications for telephone service—it has been necessary to suspend work on the call office programme for the present and it will therefore be some time before a public telephone can be provided at Aglish Post Office.
