Vol. 111 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Transport Services.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will consider (a) directing Córas Iompair Éireann to provide a transport service from Schull to Goleen, or, alternatively (b) granting a licence to a private individual to run a bus on this route.

Córas Iompair Éireann inform me that when their vehicle position improves they will consider the needs of this and other areas where there is a demand for additional bus services. In these circumstances I would be unable to consider granting a licence to a private individual to run a bus service on this route.

In view of the fact that this area has no transport at all, would the Minister urge expedition upon Córas Iompair Éireann in regard to this particular service?

I am satisfied that the company are doing the best they can in the difficult circumstances to meet the demand for additional transport services.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will direct Córas Iompair Éireann to renew the bus service between Dungarvan and Fermoy via Cappoquin, Lismore and Ballyduff, and also to provide a bus service on three additional days a week between Dungarvan and Waterford via the coast road.

Córas Iompair Éireann inform me that when their vehicle position improves they will consider the needs of this and other areas where there is a demand for additional bus services.
