Vol. 111 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of County Meath Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he has seen the newspaper report purporting to give the result of a deputation which he recently received in connection with the proposed acquisition and division of the Rotheram estate at Bellview, near Oldcastle, County Meath; and, if so, whether he will state if this report sets out the correct position in relation to this estate.

I have seen the newspaper report referred to. As regards the second part of the question the position in relation to this estate was stated in my reply to the questions asked by the Deputy and Deputy M. O'Reilly on Tuesday last, the 25th May.

Can the Minister say if the Land Commission have yet made a decision to acquire this estate or to proceed to acquire it?

I replied to that question last Wednesday.

Last Wednesday the Minister said that no proceedings had yet been taken. The supplementary question I am now asking is, have the Land Commission decided to institute proceedings yet? That is a different question.

It is and because it is different I cannot give the Deputy the information he requires.

May I raise this matter on the Minister's Estimate?

You can have two hours at it, if you wish.
