Vol. 111 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Costs of Meath Action.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will give particulars of the costs incurred by the Land Commission in its recent court action against Mr. Corry for recovery of possession of the house occupied by him on the Fanning estate at Racarstown, near Ardcath, County Meath, and whether these costs have now been paid.

The taxed costs incurred to date by the Land Commission in obtaining a decree for possession of the house illegally occupied by Frank Corry at Racarstown, on the old holding of Fanning, Record No. M.3242, County Meath, amount to £16 14s. An additional sum of £3 19s. will be incurred in taking out and executing the execution order. The costs, which are payable by the defendant, have not yet been paid but the county registrar has been instructed to levy for same.

Will the Minister convey to the Land Commission the fact that it would be an impossibility to collect the amount of the costs from this individual because he is not in a position to pay and will the Land Commission consider forgoing their costs in this case?

If the Deputy makes representation along that line, I shall have the matter examined.

Have any representations been made in the case in that connection?
