Vol. 111 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Longford Water and Sewerage Works.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the progress made in sanctioning and expediting water and sewerage works in County Longford during the present year with particular reference to Granard and Mostrim.

Mr. Murphy

The acceptance by the county council of a tender for the provision of a water supply to serve Mostrim and Ballinalee has been approved. As regards the Granard water supply, suggestions for modification in the scheme with a view to reducing the estimated cost have been conveyed to the local authority.

Work is in progress on the contract for the Lanesboro' sewerage scheme. The preparation of plans for a sewerage scheme at Ballymahon is almost complete, but a decision has not been reached as to the full scope of the scheme. Plans have also been prepared for a sewerage scheme at Drumlish and have been returned to the local authority for consideration of suggested amendments.
