Vol. 112 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Clare Allotment.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state if an allottee named Mr. Murphy, who was given an allotment on the Inchiquin estate at Ballygirreen, Newmarket-on-Fergus, County Clare, has surrendered his allotment; and, if so, whether he proposes to regrant the allotment to some other applicant; and, further, if he is in a position to state when the matter will be disposed of.

The Deputy probably refers to Mr. Edmund Murphy, of Derrynagullion, Maghera, Tulla, County Clare, who is proposed for migration to the Inchiquin estate. It is hoped to have the exchange with Mr. Murphy completed at an early date. If, for any reason, it is not completed, alternative arrangements for the disposal of the holding proposed for Mr. Murphy will be made with the least possible delay.

Is the Minister of opinion that Mr. Murphy actually intends to take over this allotment?

Mr. Murphy was offered this holding in exchange for a holding of his. He has shown some reticence in accepting the offer. All I can say is that, if he does not accept the offer, I am afraid we will have to consider other applicants, because there is no shortage of applicants for the holding.
