Vol. 112 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Newspaper and Government Advertisements.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that a weekly newspaper circulating in Waterford City and County and in parts of the adjoining counties of Tipperary and Kilkenny does not receive Government advertisements in like manner to the three other city newspapers; and, if so, whether he will ensure that this newspaper will in future receive its share of Government advertisements.

The decision as to what newspapers are to receive Government advertisements is not one for the Department of Finance, but for the particular Department which proposes to issue the special advertisement.

The Minister is having the whole matter of Government advertising brought under review with the object of securing economics.

Meanwhile, the Minister shall have particular attention devoted to the advertisements given to newspapers circulating in Waterford and the adjoining counties.
