Vol. 112 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Improvements to Sligo Harbour.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is yet in a position to advise the Sligo Harbour Commissioners when his Department will carry out the improvements to Sligo harbour, for which application was made some years ago.

State assistance has already been provided in respect of Sligo harbour by grant of £2,000 towards the cost of a cattle lairage and by a grant of £2,750 on a survey to ascertain dredging requirements. Proposals for certain works were submitted by the Harbour Commissioners in October, 1946, but more detailed information would be required before a decision could be taken as to the payment of a grant from State funds to give effect to these proposals or any modification of them. The matter is being considered and I am taking steps to see that a decision will be expedited.
