Vol. 112 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payments to County Dublin Relief Workers.

Mr. A. Byrne

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has received recommendations from the Dublin Corporation or Dublin City Manager for the payment to relief workers of the 11/- increase in weekly pay recently granted and paid from 1st January, 1948, to permanent workers; and, if so, whether he will sanction the proposal to pay the relief workers the same increase to meet the increase in the cost of living.

I have not yet received any recommendation in the matter.

Mr. A. Byrne

Will the Parliamentary Secretary make inquiries as to why temporary workers were left out of this increase of 11/- which was granted to permanent workers to meet the increased cost of living?

It is a matter entirely for the Dublin Corporation.

Mr. A. Byrne

Not for the corporation, but for the city manager. The corporation have nothing to do with it.
