Vol. 112 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Health Act, 1947.

asked the Minister for Health whether in order to facilitate persons claiming benefits under the Health Act, 1947, he will consider the introduction of x-ray and hospital mobile units which would avoid the necessity for claimants under this Act travelling undue distances which further impair their health.

The question of providing mobile x-ray units has been receiving attention. An order has been placed with an Irish firm for the building of a specially designed vehicle to accommodate plant for use in one area, and the firm in question are being pressed to expedite delivery to the health authority concerned. I hope that when delivery has been effected it may be possible to arrange for the use of the plant by neighbouring authorities on a hire basis.
