Vol. 112 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - McCarron Estate (Sligo).

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that at a recent Land Commission Court case in Sligo two years' grace against acquisition was given to the owner of the McCarron estate, record S/9662; and, if so, whether he will ensure that this property is not sold before the expiration of the extension, as recently happened in a similar case.

The Land Commission having heard the owner's objection to acquisition on 22nd June last decided to postpone final decision in regard to the lands on the McCarron estate, S.9662, County Sligo. The Land Commission have no power to prevent a sale of the lands but I need not explain to the Deputy that their own powers of acquisition remain unimpaired and that the case will automatically come up for decision in two years time.
