Vol. 112 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of Assembled Cars.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state for each type the number and horse power of assembled motor cars imported into this country during each of the years 1945, 1946 and 1947, the amount of duty paid on each such type, the cost of each such type to the importer and the price of each such type which was sold to the public.

I assume that the Deputy's question relates to private motor cars and taxi cabs. As stated in reply to a question by the Deputy on the 8th of June last, the numbers of such vehicles imported assembled in the years 1946 and 1947 were, respectively, 346 and 933. The number imported in 1945 was 219. I am not in a position to furnish the other information requested by the Deputy.
