Vol. 113 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Delivery of Newspapers in Connemara.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that newspapers are not delivered in Connemara until the day after publication; and whether he is prepared to enter into an agreement with the proprietors for the carrying of newspapers in the same vehicles as the mails.

The newspapers do not reach Galway in time to connect with the morning mail despatches to Connemara sub-offices. I understand, however, that arrangements are being made for an earlier arrival of the newspapers at Galway and Clifden and if this is arranged the timing of the mail cars concerned will be suitably adjusted to enable the newspapers to be conveyed by them.
