Vol. 113 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ex-Army Men's Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has yet decided to increase the pensions payable to N.C.O.s and men discharged from the Defence Forces prior to the recent increase in pensions; if he has sought permission from the Minister for Finance for the increases in those pensions; if this sanction has been given; and when he hopes to commence payment of the increased pensions.

The question of granting an increase to the pensioners referred to by the Deputy is under consideration.

Can the Minister give any indication as to when a decision is likely to be taken?

No, I cannot. I cannot pin myself to a date, but no time is being lost in the matter.
