Vol. 114 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Afforestation Schemes.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that officials of his Department inspected lands at Glencar, Glenbeigh, Caragh Lake and in several districts in Iveragh for the purpose of afforestation schemes; and if he is now in a position to sanction the carrying through of such schemes.

It is hoped to establish a new forestry centre by the purchase of a large block of about 500 acres at Lickeen, for which compulsory acquisition proceedings will be commenced probably within a few months.

If and when this Lickeen area has been taken over, the question of acquiring all other suitable lots in the locality will be taken up.
