Vol. 114 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allocation of Bog.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the total area of bog acquired for and allocated to the people of Kilkee during the past three years and the total number of allottees provided for.

In order to provide turbary for applicants from an area of 124 square miles in West Clare (enclosed roughly in the triangle Quilty-Kilrush-Loop Head and including Kilkee), the Land Commission within the last three years resumed 191a. 1r. 28p. in the townland of Carrowmore South. This area was integrated with an area of 892a. 1r. 28p. (already on Land Commission hands) and the entire was used to provide, in as equitable a manner as possible, for the needs of applicants from the large part of West Clare above mentioned. Seventy-four applicants from the town of Kilkee have been provided with turbary to date.
