Vol. 114 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Conacre Lettings.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that a large number of conacre farmers cannot get any land this year for tillage and, consequently, a number of agricultural workers have lost their employment and conacre farmers their livelihood; and, if so, whether he intends to take any action in the matter.

I am not aware that the position of conacre farmers and agricultural workers is as suggested and I do not propose to take any action in the matter.

Is the Minister not aware that in County Dublin such is the case? It is very strange that it has not come to the Minister's notice that already a number of such conacre farmers cannot procure land for tillage as a result of the Minister's policy.

Perhaps the Deputy would be good enough to let me have the names of the disappointed conacre tenants and I will have their cases investigated.

Will the Minister send inspectors on their land to do that?

They will have to tear down the wire then.
