Vol. 114 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electric Current for National Schools.

asked the Minister for Education whether he will have electric current connected to all national schools where the lines are passing not more than 150 yards from the schools.

I am prepared to give favourable consideration to applications from school managers for grants towards the cost of installing electric current in vested national schools, where there is a public electricity supply available close to the schools.

It would not be open to me, under the regulations, to make grants for any works of improvement in the case of non-vested schools, i.e., schools which are not vested by an official lease to which the Minister for Education is a party.
