Vol. 114 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Importation of Honey.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will take steps to prohibit the importation of honey until such time as the stocks of native honey on hands are cleared.

I am not prepared to prohibit the importation of honey the bulk of which is required for industrial users. I am, however, doing everything possible to secure a remunerative market for Irish honey. As a result of representation made to the British authorities they are now prepared to allow section honey to be imported and distributed free of price control and rationing. Further representations have been made to have run honey admitted on the same basis.
