Vol. 114 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Service Examination.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state, regarding the confined competitive examination for clerical officers (male), held on 23rd September, 1947 (a) when the placings, in order of merit, will be announced; (b) how many people have been appointed to date as a result of this examination; (c) whether those who qualified, but were not amongst the first 50, will be established and, if so, when the appointments will be made.

(a) It is expected that the placings, in order of merit, will be issued to the candidates about 7th March; (b) the number of candidates already assigned to posts as clerical officer from this examination is 30; (c) the regulations for the examination provided for the making of 50 appointments. I have not, so far, decided to make any further appointments, but at the request of the Civil Service Alliance a meeting is being held with officers of my Department to discuss, among other things, matters affecting this examination which the alliance wish to raise.
