Vol. 114 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Technical School Facilities at Castleblayney.

asked the Minister for Education whether he is aware that facilities at the Town Hall, Castleblayney, are totally inadequate and render it unsuitable for use as a technical school and that in addition the fact that these classes are held there means that amenities for Circuit Court sittings are also inadequate; and, if so, whether he will regard the building of a new technical school as a matter of urgency.

I am aware that the accommodation in the building at present being used as a technical school at Castleblayney is unsuitable and that a new technical school is necessary there. This situation is being kept constantly in mind and, while I am not yet in a position to indicate when the County Monaghan Vocational Education Committee may proceed with the erection of a new school at this centre, I hope to be able to give a decision in the matter in the near future.
