Vol. 114 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rents of Furnished Apartments.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is now in a position to state whether or not he proposes to introduce proposals for legislation to control rents of furnished apartments.

A final decision has not yet been reached in this matter.

Does the Minister feel it likely that he will have a decision at an early date, in view of the fact that there is a very large number not only in the borough of Dublin but in other boroughs who are now required to pay more than 50 per cent. of their income, and the problem is becoming a very big social one?

The Minister is aware that there are extraordinary difficulties in the matter, but they are not at all one-sided. The matter is under consideration and I will give a decision as soon as I possibly can.
