asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of travel permits issued to men and women in the years 1947 and 1948 in respect of each county or the nearest administrative area.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Travel Permits.
The particulars which the Deputy requires for new travel permits in the aggregate are not available in my Department. As bearing generally on the subject of the inquiry I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the numbers, classified by sex and county of residence, of new travel permits and passports granted in 1947 to persons to go abroad to take up employment and for the year 1948 the numbers of new travel identity cards and passports granted to persons to go abroad to take up employment or permanent residence.
Following is the statement:—
The following table shows the numbers, classified by sex and county of residence, of new travel permits and passports granted in the year 1947 to persons to go abroad to take up employment and for the year 1948 the numbers of new travel identity cards and passports granted to persons to go abroad to take up employment or permanent residence.
