Vol. 114 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flax Prices and the Linen Industry.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, having regard to the action of the Six-County flax spinners in asking Irish flax growers to sell their produce at a lower price than last year while they propose to increase the price paid to Six-County growers, he will take steps to establish a linen industry in this country.

The extension of the linen industry here is a matter for private enterprise and I do not know to what extent it would assist flax growers. I am, however, prepared to give every assistance in my power to any sound proposition for the development of the industry.
