Vol. 114 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish-U.S.S.R. Society.

asked the Minister for Justice whether his attention has been drawn to a newspaper report of an annual meeting of the Irish-U.S.S.R. Society which appeared immediately under a report of a letter of the Cardinal Archbishop of Paris warning against the dangers of collaboration with Communism; and, if so, whether, in order to restrict the activity of Communist propagandists in this country, he will introduce proposals for legislation to prevent the news columns of newspapers being made available to them in this way.

I have seen the report referred to. I do not consider that these activities are of such proportions as to warrant the introduction of legislation.

Is it a fact that the reason why the Minister is remaining inactive in this matter is because the paper in question is a very strong supporter of the Coalition?
