Vol. 115 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Forestry Plantation.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that, owing to the smallness of the forestry staff employed, the forestry plantation at Ballyhooley, County Cork, is deteriorating and that portion of the ground planted is covered with undergrowth to the detriment of the young trees; and, if so, whether he intends to take action to remedy the matter.

The Deputy appears to be misinformed in this matter. He will be glad to know that the plantation is doing very well and what undergrowth exists is not in any way interfering with the healthy development of the young trees.

Is the Minister aware that local opinion differs very much from the view that he has expressed?

The forester there tells us that there is some undergrowth but that it is not interfering in any way.
