Vol. 115 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Lusk Remount Farm.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what progress is being made towards the introduction of proposals for legislation which will enable the Land Commission to divide the Remount Farm, Lusk, County Dublin, among uneconomic holders and landless men in the area.

Proposals for legislation which, inter alia, will affect the disposal of the property in question are in an advanced state of preparation, and their introduction will not be unduly delayed.

Can the Minister give a rough idea as to when we may expect that?

No. It is a very difficult matter with which to deal because the legislation covers not merely the particular land in question, but also the disposition of State property generally. The matter has been one of considerable difficulty and it has gone through several drafts. What I hope will be the last draft has been prepared, and will come before the Government shortly. It ought not to take very long then to present it to the House.
