Vol. 115 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Phoenix Park Gatekeepers.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the hours of duty of the gatekeepers in the Phoenix Park and what provisions, if any, there are to enable them to attend their religious duties.

As regards the hours of duty I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his question of the 23rd February, 1949. While there is no provision for time off as such for the purpose of attendance at religious duties it is the generally accepted practice in employment of the character in question to allow a member of the employee's household to do duty for him during any necessary short absence.
