Vol. 115 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that the scales of pension laid down under the Army and Military Service Pensions Acts are not now equitable or fair owing to the increases in the cost of living since the scales were adopted; and, if so, whether he will introduce proposals for legislation at an early date to enable an all-round increase in those pensions to be made.

The question of increasing the pensions payable to the persons referred to in the Deputy's question is still the subject of active consideration by the Government, but I regret that I am not yet in a position to make a definite statement on the matter.
