The responsibility for the provision of a water supply at Newmarket-on-Fergus is primarily a matter for the local authority. I understand that Clare County Council are endeavouring to secure a supply for Newmarket-on-Fergus from the waterworks system at Rineanna and that negotiations for this purpose are proceeding with the Department of Industry and Commerce.
In the circumstances indicated, it is not possible to state when work on the scheme will commence.
