My functions in relation to fishery harbours are limited to recommending a contribution from State funds towards the cost of improvements which I am satisfied are necessary in the fishery interests.
I am aware that there is a need for improved harbour facilities at Schull and I will be prepared to recommend a contribution from Government funds towards the cost of providing such facilities if the Cork County Council, which is the body responsible for the existing pier at Schull, submits proposals for an appropriate scheme of improvements.
